Dr Senthil is an Innovative Strategic thinker whose ideas have brought Eye Care within the reach of common people. Though trained as an Ophthalmologist, Dr Senthil understood early on that Innovation in medicine required varied skills such as Technology, Manufacturing and Management along with Clinical Skills. Dr Senthil developed expertise in these skills which led to a novel approach which has reached millions of patients over the past two decades.

Dr Senthil Cofounded Welcare Health Systems Pvt Ltd in 2013 which grew to became India’s largest Teleophthalmology Company and reached more than 2 million patients since inception,

Welcare has pioneered an innovative approach, wherein Welcare sets up an affordable eye screening service inside existing Diabetes centres, General hospitals, Paediatric Clinics and other health centres. Patient information including retinal images are securely transferred online to Welcare’s Ophthalmologists for review and diagnostics. The results and recommendations for follow-up are then shared to the patient via staff at the facility they visited.
Welcare aims to reach out to solve the problem of Diabetic Retinopathy of which more than 60 Million people are at risk to develop a sight threatening Eye Diseases.
Welcare was selected as one of India’s 50 Most promising startups in India in the Smart CEO Event in Sept 2015.

Dr Senthil in 2018 Cofounded Ophthall – Practice Development

Ophthall is Indias Only Practice Development Organization for Ophthalmologists supporting 2500+ Ophthalmology Practices. The word OphthALL comes from combination of two words Ophth- for Ophthalmology and All for Everything in Practice Development. The day an Ophthalmologist or an Eye Care Provider steps into practice he / she becomes an Entrepreneur. Unfortunately, medical schools do not teach Entrepreneurship and thus starts a challenging ride. Eye care practices have to face a lot of challenges today starting from simple regulatory clearances to manpower issues, financing and a lot more.
Ophthalls goal is to help support Eye Care Practices address these challenges and then help them to grow and reach the next level. Since Inception Ophthall has helped 250+ Ophthalmologists to set up their Eye Hospitals . Ophthall has also launched its own Ophthall branded products such as Microscopes, Vision Charts, Video Recording Systems etc which has been a huge success among Ophthamologists in India, Ophthall has conduced 5 Annual Practice Development conferences attended by 1000s of Ophthalmologists from all over India.

Dr Senthil in 2022 Launched Ophthallmart.com India’s Only online e-commerce portal for Eye Hospitals. Ophthallmart procures products in bulk and supplies to member Eye Hospitals, helping them save lakhs of rupees every year in purchases.

Apart from Healthcare – Dr Senthil likes to travel (Done 50+ Countries and aims to reach 100+ Soon) – and read books on varied topics including Psychology and Philosophy, Dr Senthil also speaks in many Ophthalmology and Business forums .

 Dr Senthil was invited as a Guest Speaker in the prestigious Yale and Duke Universities. He also received a Humanitarian Volunteer of the year Award in an International healthcare convention held in Stanford University in 2007. He received the Gold Medal for excellent service in Ophthalmology from Tamilnadu Governor Rosiah in 2014. ( Impact Feature)
