
MODEL UNITED NATIONS CHAPTER FIVE ORGANISED AT DPS JODHPUR
CLOSING CEREMONY
“The end of a melody is not its goal: but nonetheless, had the melody not reached its end it would not have reached its goal either.”
The third and the final day of DPSMUN Chapter five was filled with energy and enthusiasm. The eight committees with their different agendas finally reached the conclusions in the last meet.

The Committee Session 4 retained the previous day debates and was dedicated to consolidating all the measures suggested. The debates of this day were marked by vigorous arguments from all the delegates. United Nations Security Council, ‘UNSC’ debated and stressed that freedom of navigation should be strongly implemented in the South China Sea and the member states which violate such freedom of navigation be penalised accordingly. The Economic & Social Council, ‘ECOSOC’ recognised the future impacts of climate change on the economy of the developed and the developing countries and stressed on the need of sustainable development in such countries. The International Court of Justice decided to penalise the Japanese state for its lack of sanity with respect to killing whales and using it for domestic purposes. The United Nations Human Rights Council, ‘UNHRC’ emphasized that indigenous people, in the exercise of rights, should be free from discrimination of any kind. The Lok Sabha passed the Uniform Civil Code in which the age for marriage was raised from 18 years to 21 years. The need for proper regulations on divorce, marriage, adoption and succession was discussed.

The closing ceremony started with the welcome of the Chief Guest, Prof. Janak Singh Meena, Director, Aadiwasi Study Centre, JNVU Jodhpur, eminent guests Mr Mukesh Bansal, Dr. Ram Goel, Mr Arvind Bhatt, Mr Dinesh Shivnani, Mr Navneet Agarwal and Prof. U R Daga.
The cultural program began with some thrilling beat boxing by Vansh Arora. A splendid dance performance by Shashwat Sambhawani and Tanisha Vasu left the gathering enchanted. Next up on the stage was Salil who with his melodious voice enthralled the audience.
The Assistant Director General for the year Mr Abir Balia addressed the gathering. Then the members of the Executive Board announced the winners of their respective committees.

The best School Delegation Team Trophy was bagged by Delhi Public School Jodhpur but being the host team it was passed on to the school holding the second position which was Saint Patrick’s Vidya Bhawan.
Director General Namovardhan Jain in his address stated that he was honored to be a part of DPS MUN on the 25th year of its inception and would leave no stone unturned to take the school to great heights.

Mr Arvind Bhatt motivated the audience and filled them with the spirit of patriotism and pride on the eve of Independence Day. He shared the examples of great orators and highlighted the nitty gritties of public speaking. The Chief Guest, Prof. Janak Singh Meena, then addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their hard work and dedication. The Director and Principal, Mr. B S Yadav, extended his gratitude to the honorable Chief Guest of the evening. He commended the students for their tireless efforts and motivated them to excel in lives.
The MUN Coordinator, Mr. Pradeep Purohit, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The conference culminated with Diya Kulsreshtha, the Secretary General, declaring the DPSMUN Chapter 5 ‘close’.

DAY TWO
Bomb and pistols do not make a revolution.
The sword of revolution is sharpened on the whetting-stone of ideas.
Day 2 of the DPSMUN 2022 witnessed the delegates engage in fruitful discussions where the young, bright and innovative minds, brainstormed and deliberated on burning issues. The day started with Committees 1 and 2 in which delegates were familiarized with all the rules and procedures to be followed in these sessions. Committee Session 3 commenced under the guidance of the Executive Board.

The topics discussed in different committees included:
- The Age of Nationalism and Rise of Modern Terrorism
- Protecting the Rights of Indigenous People
- Analysis of Implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in India
- Integration of Affordable Technology to Improve Education in the Developing World
- Addressing the Negative Impacts of Global Climate Change on Economic Growth in Developed and Developing Countries
- China’s Rising Global Influence in South China Sea.

The committees showcased excellent leadership and debating skills with an enthusiastic participation by all delegates. The Press Corps strived to capture every moment of the conference with passion and determination. In the cultural event of DPSMUN, the gathering beamed with energy and exuberance, and an encore at the end of every performance resounded in the auditorium. Cultural event displayed the vibrant and energetic performances from beat boxing to singing and dancing. The student choir stole the hearts of the gathering. The participants made best use of the time to make the day a memorable one. The breath-taking event came to its culmination and everyone took home a thrilling experience that would stay in their memories for days to come.

The Director and Principal Mr B S Yadav commended the sincere efforts made by the Executive Board for the smooth conduction of the MUN proceedings and appreciated the deliberations and discussions done by the delegates of various committees. He complemented and congratulated the students for their enthralling performance and motivated them to work hard to achieve their goals in life.

OPENING CEREMONY

Delhi Public School, Jodhpur proudly commenced a three-day prestigious Model United Nations (MUN) Conference from 12 August 2022 to 14 August 2022. The Model United Nations is a platform to encourage political thoughts and dialogue amongst students. Conferences are organised to engage young students in diplomatic debates focusing on real issues and their solutions. This provides them with an opportunity to present themselves as delegates of various countries, aiming to enhance their communication and oratory skills, and hone their abilities in diplomacy, leadership, and negotiation. Delhi Public School Jodhpur encourages students to participate in such events as they broaden their horizon and empower them to become effective change agents and leaders of the future.

The committees of the Fifth Edition of DPSMUN are – United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM), North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Lok Sabha, International Court of Justice (I.C.J) and National and International Press.

The conference commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Advocate Mr Baljinder Singh Sandhu, Co-Chairman, Bar Council of Rajasthan, esteemed guests Dr. U R Daga, Mr Rahul Singhvi, Mr Dinesh Shivnani and Mr Mukesh Bansal, and the Director and Principal, DPS Jodhpur Mr B S Yadav. The revered guests were presented with tokens of love and gratitude. Then Ms. Rupal Sankhla, Deputy Secretary General for the year addressed the gathering. The highlight of the ceremony was a mesmerizing dance performance based on the theme of evolution of earth and its conservation. This was followed an enriching debate by the Executive Board members on the topic ‘India Vision 2050’, moderated by the Assistant Director General of the DPSMUN Abir Balia. The EB members mentioned their vision of India to be digitally sound, free of caste and religious discrimination, self-dependent and having a humane and global approach.

In his address, the Honourable Chief Guest Mr Baljinder Singh Sandhu emphasised the fascinating concept of MUN wherein the youth of the nation is sensitized on the global issues. He stated the importance of managing time, never giving up and working with precision. Then the MUN coordinator Mr Pradeep Purohit apprised the gathering of the events to take place in the next two days. The Director and Principal Mr B S Yadav asked the brimming youth to never stop learning; for knowledge opens the door to opportunities, achievements and success. He motivated the delegates to value the opinion of others and have an optimistic approach in life. Then the Secretary General of the MUN Ms Diya Kulshreshtha reminded everyone of the true purpose behind Model United Nations and declared the Conference open. (Press Release by DPS Jodhpur)
